Richard Orofino releases a new video for ‘Superstar’
Singer-songwriter and producer Richard Orofino lives and works in Brooklyn. Long Island, New York, native Evan Voytas has worked with a wide range of musicians, writers, and producers in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, and London, including Isaac Flynn (Hembree), John Carroll-Kirby (Solange), and Gabe Wax (Soccer Mommy, War On Drugs). He started fusing his artistic vision across all facets of being a modern “singer-songwriter plus” offering around 2013 after discovering an interest in production.
Richard had a string of successful releases in 2021, including “Fake Me” and “Wanna Say,” which were highlighted in publications like Wonderland, Clash Magazine, and others. He then dropped the eagerly awaited EP “Chimaera,” which featured the lead single “Scratch Off.” On this song in particular, Richard’s personality and a subtly deserving swagger stand out. His once bedroom pop sound is now more nuanced. Then he opened 2022 with “Bending,” a quirky and brilliantly off-center work.
He now makes an appearance with “Superstar,” his second release of the year, which is yet another hook-filled sadcore masterpiece from Orofino. Song after song, it is evident that he is creating a sound that expands his sonic palette and differentiates him from the competition through the skillful use of instrumentation.
Using a minimalistic style, “Superstar” immerses you once more in his nostalgia for the 1990s. Richard Orofino frequently writes about unbreakable love, arduous romance, and the beauty found in the dark, and this song offers an introspective look at his life.
According to Richard, the theme of Superstar is trying to deceive yourself into thinking everything in your life is okay even though it’s not. It’s significant to me because of that and the fact that it came at a pivotal time in my life.
As it transitions into yet another outstanding track from Richard Orofino, it also demonstrates even more of his versatility and knack for unearthing undiscovered gems that distinguish this from his earlier releases. Another installment of his ever-evolving and serene sound, “Superstar” keeps the suspense at an all-time high.
