Hoorah! My favorite indie guitarist has graced my ears once again with his track “ROYGBIV”. Alec Berlin is certainly a delightful musician with a highly creative set of skills. Every song I’ve heard from the artist has a very delightful array of genres blended between it. In his track “ROYGBIV”, the math rock spirit is still intact, with some more additions of blues, and improvisational jazz it seems to me!
Alec makes a solid impression with his electric guitar. The verse riffs are just super entertaining and reverberate throughout the atmosphere with so much finesse and style. He combines the sound of his guitar’s tremolo, a muting technique, sliding, and just a diverse arpeggio structure altogether. As a fellow guitarist myself, I find true happiness when I hear pieces as inspiring as “ROYGBIV”. Let me explain why though, this is because Alec is just a different man! He incorporates clean guitar mechanics that are very unique and mixes beautifully with drums and bass lines too! He reminds me of the clean guitar tracks from bedroom guitarist Ichika Nito and the metal instrumental band Polyphia.
There’s this subtle transition in the track where Alec diverts from the awesome energetic vibe to a slower one. Here he goes into a full solo mode with a guitar tone that sounds like Santana’s Black Magic Woman’s setting. All in all, I truly enjoyed Alec’s dexterity and chord structures, he truly knows his craft! Calling all fans, calling everyone else too! Please give ROYGBIV by Alec Berlin a listen!
