SAY NO by Tilda Allie: Review
Tilda Allie is a talented Swedish music producer, singer, and visual artist who is currently based in South East London. Neo-soul, triphop, and electronica with jazz fusion are some of the musical styles that she finds enlightening. The track “SAY NO” is a deep dive into Allie’s musical realm, and we are greeted by some amazing vocal performances, soulful instrumentation, and diverse melodic arrangements.
“SAY NO” is like a cross between soul music and the indie movement altogether. I got really excited after the intro which seemed to have sounded like the sitar! A glorious instrument originating from the Indian subcontinent and felt like a truly juicy entrance to set the stage for Allie’s high-range vocals to surprise the listeners. The sitar portions are repeated, and Allie’s vocals transition into a faded poetic sequence that is a very remarkable way to pause in between takes from moving onto a more fast-paced portion.
Everything about “SAY NO” just screams passion and truly shows the depth of the singer’s skills. She goes from high-range vocals to a full-blown rap session, to a more toned-down neo-soul vocal structure accompanied by dreamy guitar chords. It makes me wonder what the artist has in store for us next! She truly is a wonderful musician filled with a vast array of genres to blend with. Hence, her track “SAY NO” was like a paragliding experience, with each ascent the music felt empowering, and as we reached the surface Allie’s soothing voice kept us safe and collected.
