Speechless by Femegades: Review
The band Femegades fearlessly returns with an unapologetic single, “Speechless” straight out from their upcoming extended play “not all men” which is going to be released in September. Fresh out of the garage punk rock scene, Femegades’ music introduces us to an apocalyptic post-MeToo era, where men perceive their position and their likability to abuse a partner but still mitigate it to the point of “not all men” – as the title of the extended play goes. “Speechless” is literally what the female gaze is about when she perceives all the atrocities and catastrophes men create. In conclusion, she states, “Not all men doing enough to say ‘not all men’” – a moment of clarity for our generation today.
Quotable lyrics:
“It’s enough to make me stay at home
But can’t escape the pics that you own
So easy walking away from me
Alone on a late night train
Turned your back on his violent rage
Not all men until your daughter’s of age.”
As Gemma explains the band’s style and thematic approach, she wants “hard-hitting lyrics that are sensitive to the subject matter and delivered with a sense of optimism”, the lyrics of the track are comprehensible, and the arrangement & production value is an absolute punk fans’ favorite. The band’s upcoming extended play is heading to streaming platforms in September, watch out!
“Speechless” by Femegades is available on streaming platforms including YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.
