The Great Nothing by Magna Zero: Album Review
Magna Zero’s music is a combination of psychedelic and hard rock. This aura comes alive sensationally in the album “The Great Nothing.” Each track is a blend of mysterious poetry and gripping rhythm sections that any rock fan can vibe with.
The album begins with trippy rock pieces such as “All Must Go” and “Endure.” Both numbers are imbued with evocative songwriting and wild guitar riffs that completely immerse your senses. The tonal variations are splendid and sparked my intrigue. It’s a cross between Gilmour’s reverb-heavy lead guitar and Tool’s psychedelic guitar solos. Afterward, we take a break from the essence of kaleidoscopic melodies, into a much heavier and brutal sound. “Under The Dirt” is a powerful rock number with commanding vocals and a thunderous guitar presence. The bass also feels much meatier and instills an epic groove. The album’s soothing aura comes on with “Step Into The Light.” It has a light harmony with gentle acoustic chords and a chill singer at the mic. Rhythmic creativity and lyrical boldness shape the song “Eat You Up,” where the percussive time signatures are impressive, and the narrative demands your attention.
The band ends their stellar psych-rock album with “Walking To Nowhere.” It’s got one of the most powerful screams on the record and is followed by a flawless instrumental flow. Altogether, I’d suggest any fan of the aforementioned genres to please check out the music of Magna Zero!
