Gary Dranow and Jerry Manfredi take back their power from a toxic relationship with an explosive rock track, “Twisted Minds,” with a strong lyrical message. The song opens with a fast-paced guitar riff that sets the tone for the rest of the track, creating a sense of urgent determination and energy maintained throughout.
The instrumentation on “Twisted Minds” is well-coordinated, with a driving beat and powerful guitar riffs that complement the rawness of the lyrics. The solos give an oomph to the music with a distinctive gnarl apart from the baritone vocals. Accompanied by a higher female voice, the song becomes ever more nuanced.
The guitar solo grinding against the base with the high vibrational frequency blending with the “ugh” preceding it is another satisfying moment to talk about in the song. Similarly, an “umm” precedes the drum solo to drive the resolve to restrain with the beats banging addictively against your ears. And just after that, the instrumentals continue to deliver. Highly appeasing! On top of that, the lyrics are delivered with raw emotions, with the singer lamenting the pain caused by a failed relationship.
The song’s opening lines, “Infatuation, it takes the blame/What does it matter/When you’re living in lies, you lose the game/I should’ve known better…” set the stage for the burning regrets with the singer acknowledging their role in the relationship’s downfall. The chorus, with its repeated refrain of “I don’t want to be, fool anymore,” encapsulates the song’s central theme of breaking free from a toxic relationship and taking control of one’s life with the vocals going flat depicting a certainty to his actions.
If you love true rock music, then “Twisted Minds” is all yours for the undertaking.
