Unbound by ANIMATE: Review
Recorded in Italy, โUnboundโ has a strong indie-folk feel that was written after a few drinks with several close friends. The song is an emotionally raw and honest reflection on the human spirit, looking at life through the somber lens, somehow outpoured with a glimmer of optimism in the slightest details. Luigi Surdoโs dulcet tones are sophisticated, comforting, and welcoming, creating a safe haven where you may let go of your worries while you listen to his project ANIMATEโs retro-esque and contemporary edge.
Unlike the pounding rock & roll of his last album, โFilling Your Void,โ โUnboundโ is far more relaxed due to its refinement being driven home by the vocal performance, as the acoustic guitar highlights a vintage allure. The song feels like a warm bear hug, from a loved one as you live through a contrast between its melancholic lyrics that talks about missed opportunities and a note of upbeat and comfort within the music, giving you a clean slate. And before you know it, โUnboundโ comes to a halt, making you linger on the replay button for one more go. The Little Prince inspired music video evokes a sense of warm nostalgia and adds to the overall theme of the song.
The Italian singer-songwriter Surdo, who sings and plays the electric guitar, is inspired by the British rock bands of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s and came up with this unique musical endeavor which gained recognition despite the fact that the project is still in its infancy. So, if you havenโt heard his music yet, this can be the beginning of an adventure!
