Unpredictable Love by Kevin Whitaker: Review
With a business and two teenage daughters to take care of, pursuing music professionally isn’t the easiest thing for the 36-year-old musician Kevin Whitaker. But the Pennsylvanian-based artist manages to block out the naysayers and keep focusing on following his dream. After the success of his debut single “Part of Me”, he continues on his musical journey strongly with the release of “Unpredictable Love”.
Kevin loves a catchy hook, and it shows in this song. The chorus was actually the first section he composed as a result of his sound and synth explorations. It features upbeat, restless pop-rock vibes that straddle the 1980s and modern production. My favorite part of the song is when he transitions into the bridge with silence. The gloomy synth and electric guitars are replaced with strings and extra echo effects to create an ambient tune. Listeners can let off some steam before the last chorus. Kevin’s vocal intensity is able to flawlessly bounce off the powerful instrumentation, which is not simple to do. His voice has the power to arrest you with its very presence. Its scratchy, deep tone exudes an alluring, mysterious allure. Many people who knew him as a drummer are surprised by his singing talent, and I can understand why.
The title of the song is quite self-explanatory lyrically; it’s about discovering love in the most unexpected places in life. If you want to know how the narrative concludes, you can listen to the music for yourself. It’s now streaming everywhere.
