Youth Killed It dives into a very relatable affair of staying “Up All Night” with anxiety and overthinking. But what’s so good about it, is that it doesn’t sound the way you think it might! With a nostalgic nod to the 2000s indie scene and 90s dance music, they are giving you dynamism as unpredictable as your late night wild rides.
The song starts setting bars with fuzzy and driven guitar riffing, turning more smug by the turn over thumping drums. They clash in an explosion of sound, clearing the way to open up to a hooky section with heart-pumping beats for the singer to emerge delivering their message with sass and attitude. The lyrics showcase the narrator unable to escape the endless thoughts that follow them into the early hours.
With the drums returning with their thrums and the tempo rising, an effortlessly catchy and fast-paced rapping section takes over, drawing you further into the music. But it’s the refrain of the chorus, “You keep me up all night,” that truly sticks with you like an earworm, echoing the frustrations of the singer as they grapple with their inner demons.
“Up All Night” shows good Youth Killed It is at crafting original music. But their impressive track record of sold-out headline shows shows they can rock out the stage even better than the studio. They are coming to shake it up on stage again this May.
So mark the dates and jam to their latest single as you stay up waiting for more bops to drop.
