Glasgow-based duo Empty Machines unveils their latest and darkest track to date this Dec 15. This summer, they debuted with their single, “Luna” and found recognition through BBC Introducing. Delving deeper into the alternative, electronic, cinematic and ambient mood with their authentic selves bared, “Velvet Sky” is here with the ominous atmosphere crafted by Thomas Crawford and Jodie Helena.
“Velvet Sky” opens with Thomas Crawford’s instrumentals exuding a menacingly dark energy. The looming undertone of impending doom sets the stage for a journey into the shadows. The distorted gnarly guitars and grounding drums, rhythmically pounding with a sharp cymballic edge, create a soundscape reminiscent of wandering through an inundating dark forest fog.
With mystery and foreboding, Jodie Helena’s vocals, with their thick and deep timbre, unfold slowly against the distorted guitars. The deliberate pacing adds to the song’s ominous aura. Helena’s voice serves as a guide through the sonic landscape, leading listeners deeper into the shadows.
The duo writes, records, and mixes all their music in their home studio. And here we are listening to the result of the autonomy and complete control over their sonic identity.
“Velvet Sky” by Empty Machines is a sonic expedition into the depths of darkness, guided by brooding instrumentals and haunting vocals.
Empty Machines invites you to embrace the allure of the unknown through their music. Listen to the rising stars blaze the “Velvet Sky” with thundering and brooding clouds on Spotify.
