When In Rome by Chip Pirrs: Review
Upon hearing “When In Rome” I was deeply drawn into the music of Chip Pirrs. The track is a synth-driven, Cyberpunk-Esque, piece. As the synthesizer initiates, some echoed vocals enter the background. Later on, the verse sections begin, and they are filled with a unique singing variation, where the words are mixed beautifully. “When In Rome” is a minimal, and catchy number, one fit for the masses.
My special pick from the song’s structure is the chorus. It’s quite magical and rhythmic and has clean vocals. There is a certain futuristic appeal to the track, which makes you feel it’d be a great soundtrack to 2030 or beyond. I really appreciate pieces that evoke a sense of mystery and spark intrigue in me. The track is four minutes and sixteen seconds long, and nearly three minutes in, the entire tempo does a complete 180. I thought another track was playing! But to my surprise, we were still on the same song, with some electronic-hip hop mixed into it. The vocals are distorted a bit to mimic a child’s voice, and it sounds unique and catchy.
According to Chip Pirrs, his song “When In Rome” is about an attempt to clarify with your partner about an experience. That is, what you want them to believe happened when you return home from a night out with your buds. However, not necessarily putting up the best effort to explain in the process. It’s a pretty lit idea for a song, and a bit amusing. It’s a hit track, filled with melodic portions one which everyone will vibe with.
