When You’re Asleep by Will Soma: Review
The Australian singer-songwriter Will Soma’s new single is a heartfelt ballad about loving someone secretly.
Unrequited love is something we all have experienced at some point in our lives and we all are familiar with the heartache of not being able to express our love in fear of losing that person forever. If they get to know our feelings for them and they don’t feel the same for us, there’s a fair chance that it will ruin whatever friendship there was before them knowing. But we cannot go on living like this. So at some point, we muster up the courage and risk it all for the grand prize.
Quotable lyrics:
“Two friends, that it is and that’s all it’ll ever be
Wanted more but I’m Overruled by Destiny
I watched our lives intertwine, hoping one day you’ll be mine
I can’t walk away so I need you set me free.“
Will Soma does exactly this in the song, When You’re Asleep. It is a beautiful poetic heartfelt confessional laying it all down knowing the risk and the prize. The lyrics beautifully put together his feelings about how he loves in secret and he wants more than that and he can’t keep it any longer we wish we could do too. You can really hear the heartache and the emotions in his airy vocals and arrangement of the song as it goes from somber sincerity to moments of courage and melancholic uncertainty. Beautiful, poetic and emotive, this song may even inspire you to confess your love just like Will Soma did. If you can’t find the words to say, I’m sure the artist wouldn’t mind if you borrow his words.
