Who’s Dat by Kid Koi: Review

Following the success of his previous single Can’t Help Myself, Sota Koike, who goes by the stage name of Kid Koi got everyone wondering who’s that with his new catchy tune, Who’s Dat.
Starting off with a sweet serene acoustic guitar, the song quickly builds up and gets you dancing to its bouncy tune. After a few bars of the starting solo acoustic guitar, Kid Koi joins with his slightly gritty airy vocals over a strummed acoustic guitar and a cowbell that starts laying down the percussions for the song to build up. As the song progresses, groovy bass and kick drums join in and the song kicks into its catchy hooks that would have you sing along too! Throughout the song, Kid Koi changes up his vocal techniques quite a few times and the transitions are flawless.
The composition and arrangement of this Pop song is really versatile as it draws elements from different genres of music like Dance, Latin, RnB, Blues, Jazz and Funk. As a result, we have this really catchy tune that is just as musically rich. The production quality also makes the listening experience just as uplifting and immersive. On that note, the “live chrorus” in the chorus part of the song is a really clever touch that gives the song an interactive feel that further inspires the listener to join in and sing along. Now even if you’re shy to join in, you’d surely vibe with it inside.
