Without the Scars by Kyle Preston: Review

Music has been and will continue to be the universal language of mankind, closing the gap between ethnicity, religion, or race. Throughout his career, Kyle Preston has concentrated on ambient classical music that connects people. With a string of well-received projects that have been wildly featured in motion pictures, apps, and video games, he shares one of his recent efforts with the track “Without the scars”. It continues to be an unexpected gift.
As I sit through and behold this magnificent body of work, I don’t believe it’s meant to be interpreted in any structural way, or that words are enough to process this experience. It’s surreal, mesmerizing, and awe-inspiring, even without any words. Seven minutes of soothing strings and ethereal choirs drown out the noise from outside and lead the listeners to distant galaxies far, far away. They evoke emotions buried deep within your conscience that you had no idea existed, let alone bathe in and let wash over you. It has a cinematic feel to it, but the movie you’re watching is your own.
This single is the first puzzle piece in Kyle’s latest album, “Vistas”. He names eight tracks in a linear order to cite a poem: “Without the scars, I’m not sure who I am. What does that say about me? That I’m broken? No, there are no separate events. Because existence is a relationship. And scars aren’t the end. They’re just beginning”. It intrigues listeners to learn more about the fictional world that they would not regret diving into.
