Litvar is an American indie rock band based in Willimantic, Connecticut. Their history began with the childhood camaraderie of Rex Thurstan and Violet Falkowski, who started playing and writing music together in high school. In 2019, the trio was completed when they met Joe Lemieux during a concert in Connecticut. Litvar’s track “You Should Find A New Boyfriend” is equal parts wholesome indie minimalism meets explosive alternative punk fusion, and a blast from start to finish.
“You Should Find A New Boyfriend” initiates itself with a polished and detailed instrumental section. The elements of songwriting and sound are quite poignant incorporating acoustic melodies that sound a bit like playing the harmonics. This is followed by light bass notes to make the track’s charm stand out. After hearing the clarity of the vocals it felt like a very deep and meaningful story unfolding through the band’s lyrics.
I was in for a nice surprise at the turning point of the track because the band does a 180 and captures the song’s essence in an alternative wave of punk rock. It is quite intriguing to hear music’s reach be extended through imaginative and creative transitions. You want the audience to be captivated and filled with a sense of appeal and wonder. So in this case, Litvar did a wonderful job making their powerful and passionate ode come alive with fierce and subtle instrumental and vocal arrangements.
