What started as a birthday gift has quietly bloomed into something far bigger. “A Song To C” began as an intimate gesture, written by Tobias Borelius of Emerald Park for his wife and performed live at her birthday alongside Daniel from Danish Daycare. The reaction in the room said it all. This wasn’t just a private love letter; it had legs. So the track naturally found its way into Emerald Park’s sonic world, evolving into a heartfelt collaboration shaped by Scandinavian pop sensibilities and emotional precision.
Drawing subtle inspiration from the melancholic sweep of Nordic synth-pop, the song leans into atmosphere without losing its pulse. Daniel laid the groundwork first, crafting a restrained drum pattern and bass synth that hum beneath the surface like a steady heartbeat. Over that foundation, Tobias layered acoustic guitars and vocals, keeping the arrangement tender and unforced. Linus Lindvall’s expressive electric guitar lines glide in later, adding shimmer and lift, like small surges of emotion that bloom and fade like northern lights.
The track opens with a glinting, dripping rhythm hovering over a deep, slow, droning buzz. You get a brief, aching wail at the start, as if the feeling can’t be contained, before Tobias settles into his thick, measured vocal delivery. He sings deliberately, letting each line land. It goes like, “You have a window to my soul / I have been opened a thousand nights of highs and lows.” It’s poetic and grounded in lived-in devotion. So, he continues, “…Fire is burning, you have a light that keeps me cool… it keeps me warm if I am cold,” the paradox says it all. The love has become both the anchor and the flame, keeping them alive.
There’s a life-affirming glow running through “A Song To C.” It’s wistful, yes, tinged with Nordic melancholy, but never heavy. Instead, it feels reflective and warm, like standing by a window at dusk, grateful for the light inside. Personal, collaborative, and emotionally direct, it’s proof that sometimes the simplest songs carry the deepest resonance.
