Blank Check by 7000apart: Review
Two minutes and thirty-two seconds of eternal bliss. If I had to summarise 7000apart’s magnificent song “Blank Check” in a few words it would be just that. But, indeed there’s more about it. So, first some info about the band’s beautiful and heartwarming journey. The narrative of this married couple got its start when Amelie moved away from Sweden to become an exchange student in the United States of America. It was then that she met Jon, the love of her life and future husband. As Amelie’s exchange year came to a close, 7000apart was established as a means of maintaining the strength of their bond despite the distance of 7000 kilometers that separated them. Thus, their artistic initiative had developed from being something they had in common into a devoted professional ambition. Now, ain’t that just sweet?
Amelie’s vocals are truly breathtaking, she hits all the right notes and the piano, dear lord! It’s such a catchy tune to hear! The transitions of “Blank Check” is incredible, and the song’s meaning is quite touching indeed. The lyrics are quite emotional, and it was quite challenging for me to pick the best part, I debated with myself between Amelie’s high notes at the end and these parts –
“I’m not asking for forgiveness
asking for a blank check
I wanna I wanna know
where did we, go, wrong?
Memories tore like paper
fragments in the wind
can’t remember the last time I heard your voice”
