With cartoonish and interesting cover art portraying a Bull kind of makes you look at the album name again. That’s right, it’s “Bull in a China Shop” by Atomic Bronco. An indie alternative rock album reminiscent of retro times and somewhat coalescing lo-fi beats with garage rock sounds If that doesn’t sound like a strong concoction, I don’t know what does. And it’s quite a concoction too, with all 11 tracks moving to a whole different sound, each distinct yet being strung back to the same album with Bronco’s suave and sleek vocals and genre bringing us back to ground.
No matter how high you are, you have to come back to the ground with the realization—” Bull in a China Shop” has just that kind of balancing effect.
Starting with “Default Settings,” an album with drums pacing beside jamming guitars and that ubiquitous signature hazy voice of Atomic Bronco We are taken to a more seductive musical field with the second track, “Get You Off My Mind,” as Bronco sings with his voice low but clearer the opening lines, “You got the look to trap me, babe/And I know it’s true.” Props to Kyle Nuss for producing the album and lending his amazing songwriting abilities, making them a perfect fit for Bronco’s voice.
“Bull in a China Shop” is out to break some things with the 4th track, “Foolish Games.” It has the rhythm dancing as the vocals groove and enchant us. Again, in “Lost,” we get more of that acoustic guitar and more of Bronco’s heartfelt rendition of the lyricism.
Overall, “Bull in a China Shop” should be right up your alley because Atomic Bronco has bent the genres with a modern, transitional take with this DIY indie album.
