Cold Collecting by Chip Greene: Review
Indie Rock with a vibing bass and eclectic guitar playthroughs? Commanding vocals? Sign me up! All that too, and with some cinematic synth variations that manifest into a sensational composition made by Chip Greene entitled “Cold Collecting”. The artist was raised in Nashville and had a creative upbringing. Well, it clearly shows because his singing talents and instrumental efforts truly shine.
The opening sequence is dark and edgy, with sharp notes being played on either an electric guitar with an acoustic-stylized tone or a mandolin. Well, it sounds like either one, nonetheless it acts as a gateway for the other instruments to enter. The most prominent of the two, the drums and bass are gritty and add a deep undertone onto which Chip creates a singing aura of delight. Leading up to the chorus all of the instruments come together for a powerful build-up, also the addition of a tambourine adds a special flair to the track. The vocal layers add an interesting twist to a solo act, and Chip certainly manages to make each of them sound refreshing and melodic.
Whether you’re captivated by the catchy guitar notes composed on the track, the groovy weight of the bass, or Chip’s remarkable voice, it’s all in cohesion in a wonderful manner with “Cold Collecting”. Chip’s singing style is in the lower scale range, but he still manages to hit higher notes and have a constant resonance throughout the track.
