At just 19 years old, Memphis-based solo artist NazTheMoon delivers a poignant and introspective single with “Crimson,” released on February 16. Seamlessly blending elements of alt-rock and post-hardcore, NazTheMoon offers a raw and unfiltered glimpse into the years and time that swam away while dealing with addiction.
Produced in Memphis, TN with Ryan at the helm, “Crimson” sees NazTheMoon taking on vocals and guitar. Drawing inspiration from bands like Glass Heart and their track “Treading Water,” NazTheMoon infuses “Crimson” with gnarly distorted guitars that drive with relentless energy, capturing the chaotic essence of inner turmoil and conflict.
From the opening lines, NazTheMoon sets the tone for “Crimson” with haunting vulnerability, singing of the gradual descent into addiction with lines like “The bottle begins to empty.” Her voice, soft and delicate yet brimming with transparent anguish, guides listeners through the tumultuous journey of grappling with reality while drowning in the throes of addiction.
As the song progresses, NazTheMoon’s contemplative guitar melodies chime and shimmer, offering brief moments of respite amidst the chaos. However, the underlying sense of detachment from reality looms large.
Yet, amidst the darkness, “Crimson” holds a glimmer of hope—a beacon of light in the depths of despair. The song’s conclusion hints at the possibility of breaking free from the endless spiral of addiction and rediscovering happiness, albeit tinged with the lingering fear of facing the challenges of adulthood.
With an EP on the horizon and a live show scheduled for March 3rd, NazTheMoon is poised to make a significant impact on the alt-rock and post-hardcore scene.
