Pulse Park gets you through rousing atmospheric shades of rock with their shoegaze haze in their latest introspective album, First Second. Released on April 19, this German-Canadian indie rock trio delivers an electrifying blend of catchy melodies, driving guitars, and captivating vocals.
Comprised of Magnusson on guitar and vocals, Frank Hagen on bass and guitar, and Oliver Polastri on drums and produced by Kurt Ebelhäuser (Blackmail, Scumbucket) Pulse Park crafts a sound that is just as light and airy as it is tight and energetic.
First Second kicks off with “Wide Array,” a mesmerizing track that draws you in with shimmering mysterious riffs before firing up with a blazing exhilarating drive of guitars with thumping drums. Magnusson’s entrancing high vocals bring relaxation to the song.
“Dark Empath” broods with rhythmic guitaring and a shimmering atmospheric appeal. Then “Dylan” reinvigorates with backing vocals soaring anthemically. As the guitar riffs build, Magnusson sings nostalgically, “They say there’s a sun, I can’t think of one/But the one that shone seven summers long.”
The last track, “Inertia and Mass,” stands out with soothing waves of guitar. The song evolves into an upbeat anthem with soaring riffs and infectious energy. Magnusson’s vocals float effortlessly over the rush of sound, delivering lyrics that speak to the ephemeral nature of life and society’s demands.
Be swept away by the infectious rock graze of Pulse Park’s latest masterpiece, First Second on Spotify.
