Italian-Japanese singer-songwriter OTO MAYUMI introduces us to all the various shades of grey within us with her debut album, Good and Bad Shades. This J-Rock jam immerses us in her dynamic spectrum of emotions and immersive complexity with her infectious tracks.
The album kicks off with βKagami mite goran,β a previously unreleased track. The song delves into the unintended hypocrisy that lives in our nature with grinding guitars gnarling against a contagious pounding drumbeat. The smashing instrumental sparks the stage for Mayumiβs soft yet syrupy sweet vocals.
One of the four singles of Good and Bad Shades, βOwl,β emerges as a dynamic composition with revving and driving guitar chords. The cymbals sharpen the atmosphere while Mayumiβs voice fizzes up the exciting rock energy with a catchy pop ambiance. And we have the ideal nocturnal theme track for your night owl era. This is the only track her producer, Codadilupo from Tafka, didnβt produce. Still, we get that coherence and semblance as he mixed it.
OTO MAYUMI got us wrapped up with her skills as a songwriter in Good and Bad Shades as she brilliantly complements the songwriting with the instrumentals. βRed, Blue and Violetβ presents another of her 6 unreleased gems, featuring MAYUMIβs elegant soft vocals against a backdrop of glitchy, electrifying beats. Meanwhile, the electric guitars drift with a whimpering sultry tone.
The J-Rock artist OTO MAYUMI, with a history of music behind her, is here to blaze the trails ahead with her rockable energy. Letβs jam to Good and Bad Shades as we sit excited.
