IN THE VIDEO ‘ROCKY ROAD,’ MONEYBAGG YO AND KODAK BLACK narrate their rise to fame.
Moneybagg Yo has released an album every year for the past four years, and he plans to make it five in 2022. Big Speaker returned to the streets on Monday (May 16), with the evocative “Rocky Road,” featuring the in-demand Kodak Black.
Over piano-laden production by Mook On The Beat, the Memphis native and Kodak muse on taking the road less traveled to prominence.
In the Young Chang-directed film, Moneybagg gives Kodak a CMG chain while they both rap from a rooftop, while a parallel storyline depicts a murder over a minor quarrel during a dice game.
Big Bag even admits that his fiancée Ari Fletcher wants to start a family, but he’s too focused on collecting the money right now and doesn’t think the time is right.
On the second verse, he raps, “Ari want another baby but I’m too busy chasing paper/Well, maybe, not right now, perfect timin’ might come later.”
Moneybagg Yo also made an appearance on Apple Music’s Beats 1 to discuss his latest collaboration with Kodak, following their collaboration on “Lower Level” in 2018.
“Whenever I work with Kodak, there’s chemistry,” he stated. “It’ll be OK.” I wanted to do something different than ‘Lower Level.’ When we got in there and did it, it probably took us about two weeks. It turned out well. I’m looking forward to hearing the song. It feels like a warm-up.”
Moneybagg is expected to release another single soon, as well as a “surprise full-length” project.
