Mothica, an alt-pop artist, has released a hard-hitting track called “Last Cigarette.” Au/Ra, an Antiguan-German singer-songwriter, is featured on the single.
MOTHICA, a Los Angeles-based alt-pop singer-songwriter, releases “Last Cigarette” on Heavy Heart Records, her Rise Records/BMG subsidiary. Au/Ra, an Antiguan-German singer-songwriter, is featured on the single. “Last Cigarette” follows “Sensitive” and “Casualty,” which have accumulated over 4.3 million global streams and are still growing. All three songs are from MOTHICA’s upcoming album, Nocturnal, which will be released later this year.
MOTHICA explains, “I wrote ‘Last Cigarette’ about someone I met who reminded me of myself in a terrible way.” “We had a lot of pessimistic inclinations in common, and it reminded me of trying to quit smoking, which we all know is bad for you but there’s still this attraction to being trapped in a negative loop.”
Beginning July 12 in Miami, FL, MOTHICA will embark on a summer tour with Coheed and Cambria and Dance Gavin Dance. Tickets are currently on sale. MOTHICA will also perform at the So What?! Music Festival in the spring and the Aftershock Festival in the fall. Visit https://www.mothica.com/ for additional details.
MOTHICA grew raised in Oklahoma where publicly discussing mental health difficulties was frowned upon, so she turned to the internet for support. MOTHICA has been making music since she was a child, but she did not pursue it professionally until she was 18, when she began producing and publishing her own music online. MOTHICA has released a couple of EPs, many singles, and her 2020 debut album Blue Hour since embarking on a musical path of self-expression and exploration.
MOTHICA has amassed 200 million global streams with her catchy alt-pop on challenging subjects and has collaborated with artists such as nothing, nowhere., Royal & the Serpent, and Kailee Morgue. Her honesty about past tragedies, her fight with depression, and her recovery has earned her a devoted following. MOTHICA uses music as an avenue to express a shared experience that everybody can relate to, in order to challenge the stigmas around mental health.
