MOVE BY ET X YUNG XIIM is set to be released on June 2nd, 2022.
Both ET and Yung Xiim are Connecticut-based indie acts. They’re cousins who were both introduced to music at a young age. ET and Yung Xiim established their own distinct styles after being influenced by early 2010 hip-hop/rap sounds such as Sean Kingston, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, and eventually the rap trio Rae Sremmurd. Juice WRLD, who debuted on the scene in 2018, was another important artist that later inspired the pair and continues to do so now. They decided to explore with their own sound, based on their inspirations. ET & Yung Xiim learned to evolve their sound and build their own lyrical flows and melodies in their songs by starting with GarageBand IOS and Xbox headphones.
Due to their lack of staff, ET and Yung Xiim trained to produce, engineer, and promote their own songs. It may be quite draining, so they channeled their anger into a song about the difficulties that an unsigned musician may experience. They hope to inspire other aspiring artists by demonstrating that feeling overstimulated and frustrated is a fleeting emotion. They emphasize that it’s easy to get lost and lose your sense of purpose when it comes to your passion, but that it can all be worth it in a short period of time. “I told my squad we gon’ make it just wait, said we gotta MOVE,” the chorus says.
EJazz Radio, The Recap on rDU 98.5, Kruel Empire Radio, and Nebula Music Podcast have all featured ET. Umusicians, Indie Criollo, Death or Desire, Last Day Leaf, Music Arena GH, UK Hip-Hop, Sinusoidal Music, and PopFad have all written about them in their blogs.
“Many indie artists explore hip-hop & rap, but ET is one of the greatest,” Sinusoidal said in one of ET’s favorite blog entries about them. “Their variety enables them able to dabble in different kinds of genres; emo rap, chill hop hip-hop, cloud rap all together – that’s ET,” according to a blog post from the same publication.
For the past 5 years, ET and Yung Xiim have been composing music together. From writing songs in their grandmother’s basement to having their own home studio, the duo has been inspired to keep pushing their music in order to provide the content that their fans demand. The major goal of the pair is for the listener to be able to let go of any problems they are having in life and enjoy themselves with others. They believe it is critical to involve their followers as much as possible because music has always brought people closer together. This is their first single in two years, following their smash “Harder” in 2020, which has piled up 10k SoundCloud streams and 30k Spotify streams.
