ON THE SINGLE, BENITA INSPIRES WOMEN TO EMBRACE BEING ‘PRETTY.’

Benita, an up-and-coming singer and composer, has released a new single called “Pretty.”
The Toronto-based singer-songwriter has released a new ballad that celebrates women who appreciate their beauty and turn it into confidence. “Women are constantly under the microscope about what we wear, how much skin we show, and how we act,” she writes. Pretty is a sign of self-assurance. This song is dedicated to all forms of baddies.”
The Toronto-based Pop-R&B musician with West-Indian heritage traces her sound to her parents’ love of Bollywood and her favorite artists Rhianna, Beyoncé, and Drake. She’s used YouTube and Soundcloud to showcase her abilities, covering singers like SZA, Ed Sheeran, and John Legend, to name a few – but now it’s time for her music to shine.
I would say that you are inspiring people without even knowing it, keep going even if it feels like you’re hitting a wall. As an artist we struggle a lot with highs and lows, it’s almost like a gamble being in this industry but taking everyone’s opinions with a grain of salt really helped me on this journey. We are all really just figuring it out as we go, no need to put so much pressure on yourself. The rules are always changing and will keep changing. – Benita
Her debut EP ‘Scarlet’ is mostly influenced by colors and feelings associated with warm hues, as its name suggests. The eight-song collection, which has been in the works since 2019, includes previously released tracks such as “Out of Here,” “Pretty,” and “Toxic,” the latter two of which have racked up over 50K YouTube views. New songs like “RIP” and “Hallucinations” offer Benita’s enticing vocals, romantic production, and empowering lyrics to a wider audience. She blends and merges many genres, including pop, indie, and jazz influences, while exposing her most vulnerable side.
