Outside Spectrum by The Empty Pockets: Album Review
Outside Spectrum by The Empty Pockets will have you overjoyed with beauty and awe as it takes over any atmosphere with the pizzazz of old-fashioned soundscapes.
The performances in Outside Spectrum are explosive, brimming with cathartic performances in their attempts. This is evident in the sounds of โThat Gunโ, โMrs. Sacramentoโ and โA Bird Does Not Singโ. The record features both female and male vocals, diverse and slightly distinctive, sung in dispersion, as the incredible guitar work of Laurence Juber shines through. While the male voice is somewhat evocative of the irreverent punk energy, the femme vocals have a strong, amber residue, like in the old classic films of noir. The Empty Pockets effortlessly switch between blues, jazz, rock, and pop throughout their songs, providing listeners with a sonic journey that is both expansive and cohesive.
Outside Spectrum truly lives up to its name with the enjoyment it creates, like a celebratory moment as the bars of a bustling piano evoke a classic fashion to it, highlighting accomplishments of over a decade. The album has high-production songs, bursting with originality, which is proof of the work the band has put into these eleven songs. It has landed The Empty Pockets an outlet to become global with their multi-faceted efforts. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to simply immerse themselves in ethereal music that is top-notch.
