Higher Music State (HMS) is back with their new album, Overboard. This album intrigues with an eclectic fusion of genres from rock, indie, electro, acoustic, all the way to folk.
Starting with โSlide off and Die,โ the listener is immediately immersed in an upbeat and raw energy vibe with rhythmic drums, intricate riffing, and driving guitars. Completing the music, we have tender and rich vocals layered in a lively disarray creating a dynamic, raw, and loose atmosphere.
Moving onto a stand-out track, โDonโt Forget the Love,โ the song features romantic horns blowing in the air while relaxing and glistening strumming of guitars riffs away. We hear soulful female vocals back up the thick and luscious deep male vocals. The lyrics devote ardent love and desire through vivid imagery of love displayed through sensual and passionate delivery.
The final track, โPoppies,โ offers a more contemplative and immersive experience. Starting with strumming guitars, the song unfolds with calm instrumentals and twangy vocals that relish every word. The lazily cinematic trailing accentuation in both vocals and instrumentals creates a hypnotic sway in the soundscape.
Sibling duo vocalists Andrea and Gerard Lewis, with guitarist Alex Avery, bass guitarist and vocalist Anna Jackson, and Calum Bradbury-Sparvell doing his magic with the drums, trumpet, and piano, we have the whole team with their diversities creating this magnifying musical palette of the album.
To get the full experience of the eclectic album, you will have to listen to all the tracks. Or else you wonโt get to hear the rage, curiosity, rock nโ roll, humor, or mystery in the rest of the pieces. To get over this mystery, check out Overboard by Higher Music State ASAP.
