PED by TØMZ: Album Review
TØMZ (“Tommy Ain’t Got No Job”) served as executive producer and engineer for this compilation mixtape, and let’s be real, it’s all slaps, there are no skips on this one. In addition to Timmydoe and Delahussle, other artists who contributed to this project include Gjune, Dcsm, Yo Cuddi Dij, Poo$ie, AK Bandamont, Muse The Menace, BayWay, Loo Kang, Maylay K, Jduecy, Detroit Diamond, MiLLiOnBagz, Double Cup, and Doyle Robinson. They went absolutely bonkers to each and every one of TØMZ’s beats, adding their own unique spin to the party. Some of these collaborations date as far back as 2016, while others are more up-to-date, in 2022; however, TØMZ has remixed and mastered all of them at Berkeley, California’s The Villa Studio, demonstrating the studio’s capabilities.
‘PED’ begins with ‘Mr. Strange Addictions,’ the atmosphere is a disheartening one, where lovers lose their intimacy over a sweet melody. In ‘RN’ they go ham on the slow and heavy beat with their swagger and cleverly designed lyrics. The track ‘I Knew It !’ is about impressing someone special and has a more energetic vibe with a faster beat. The album is more than just romance, though, which is evident in ‘Thug Wayz’ and ‘Athlete’, which have a more serious tone, reflecting the gritty street life. The track ‘Laced Up’ gets you in the mood with the upbeat rhythm, while ‘SNOOZE’ gets you grooving to that catchy electronic music.
The album sounds beyond fantastic with such epic collaborations, where the music blends seamlessly with the narrative, creating a powerful unit that is a must-listen.
