Petty by Tarn PK: Review
“Petty” is a funky and upbeat electronic track by New Zealand-based artist Tarn PK. From Wellington, the musician is also a producer and songwriter. Exploring genre classifications such as indietronica and electro-pop, the artist has a catchy essence present in the vibrations of “Petty”.
An interesting synthesizer element is present on the track. Specifically the rhythm section has a retro theme, that makes it perfect for getting into a groove. Essentially, the singer’s expressive and colorful pop arrangement adds a nice touch to the entire flavor of the song. Mixing the tempo between upbeat verse sequences, and a relaxed pre-chorus section, there’s a smooth feeling in your ears when the slow parts arrive. The singing portions are quite passionate and the flow has a catchy hook. Combined with the bass parts, and those space-like bits in the middle truly have a feeling that you’re floating peacefully somewhere.
Gravitating towards the delightful aura of electro-pop, Tarn PK lets loose their inner melodic charm throughout the track. Whenever a track is presented to me, I find in easier to picture it in a given situation so that it becomes easier to consume and appreciate. In this case, the verse section with the techno beat truly reminisces reflections of neon buildings and a futuristic view of a pretend city. But as soon as the moodier sequences initiate, you get this ethereal feeling of getting lost in planetary orbit. Along with a calm and collected notion that everything’s gonna be okay, and Earth is just steps away.
