Queen Daxene Releases Stellar Indie-Rock Album “Barnstormer”
London musician Alex Denny has a studio project called Queen Daxene. Alex composes and plays all the instruments, and Alex Reeves (Elbow/Bat for Lashes/Shania Twain) and Robert Ogden contribute drums. The band looks to The Kinks, Ambulance Ltd., Tom Petty, David Bowie, St. Vincent, George Harrison, and Elliott Smith as major artistic influences.
“Barnstormer”, is Queen Daxene’s newest album. It dropped on the 18th of May. Apart from the regular instrumentals and vocals, the drum segments were captured by Alex Reeves in his Finsbury Park studio. Furthermore, Ewan Vickery handled mixing, and Matt Colton mastered the final product. Altogether, the record is a look back at the music and musicians who have influenced Alex throughout his life, perhaps with a fresh take.
Each track on the record has equal amounts of poetry and harmony. The narrative feels enlightening to hear, especially when the rhythmic layers aligned with it. This ideal blend of melodies was pretty soothing to hear, especially with the indie rock outfit. At times, the songs from the record felt like an ecstatic burst of energy, and other times a perfect soundtrack to relax to. Altogether, Queen Daxene created a sensational album that should keep you company for days to come.
