“Look My Way,” the debut single from Brooklyn-based post-punk band Rat Palace, is a distorted and atmospheric rock anthem. Released this Feb 9, the song is a relentless rock bop that delivers a sonic punch reverberating with energy and intensity.
Led by Rohit Sai Gopal on guitar and vocals, Julian Cornell on guitar and production, and Ali Zimmerman on bass and vocals, the song showcases blazing guitars and thumping drums that cut through the air with every strike, enhanced by the shimmering sharpness of the cymbals. This atmospheric stupor is further heightened by sweet and rich vocals, creating a hazy, psychedelic punk soundscape that captivates from start to finish. They blend seamlessly with the psychedelic punk hooks, creating a captivating sonic landscape that draws us in effortlessly.
“Look My Way” is part of something huge coming up. Rat Palace’s upcoming debut LP, Dust-Free Home promises to highlight all that Rat Palace is about as musicians, individuals, and friends. It will be fascinating to see how the members of this band put so much patience into developing this long-awaited LP. Interestingly, the 2 years of perseverance came naturally and spontaneously over a three-day recording period at Spillway Sounds studio.
But before the big release, expect another single, “Triple Tarp / Toy Soldier,” on March 1st, 2024, with its own music video directed by Hayden Fralin. The anticipation builds further with upcoming live performances in and around NYC. Let’s keep the torch burning by supporting our rising punk stars and listening to the single “Look My Way.”
