Super Highway by Birds Are Better: Review
Birds Are Better creates the kind of music that makes you groove with soulful vibes. “Super Highway” is a cross between synth-pop and alternative folk and is led by Norwegian musician Stian Fjelldal. His style of poetry and trance tones are pretty charming. It is brought to life in an electronica soundscape and elevates each passing minute with pulsating beat drops.
“Super Highway” starts off on a soft scale, with a soothing synth melody playing in the background. What follows afterward are vocals with a harmony only angels could express. The tone and production quality are top-notch. The singer’s natural voice is heavenly and captures your attention without wasting a second. Eventually, a bassline tags along. From then on, it’s a full-on rave, and as energetic as it sounds, it’s even better when you hear it. Headphones are advised, folks, and feel free to show off your best dance moves while doing so. Aside from all these facets, Fjelldal truly exhibited a modern sound on his track “Super Highway.” Its futuristic melody is like a techno-pop dream I wish I had composed, yet feel proud that it’s out there in the world and ready to grace the ears of vast audiences.
Synth-pop was a hit back in the 1980s, and in the past few years, the genre’s return can be felt thoroughly in film and media. Hence, I’m glad Birds Are Better defines their sound through nostalgic synthesizers of the good old days, it takes me back and is a treat to hear.
