THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA Announces New Album “Color Decay” and Premieres First Single “Salt” Music Video
“‘Salt’ is a song about wanting to go on and feeling like nothing ever changes, even though you’ve done everything right,” the band explains. “It’s the kind of sensation that makes you second-guess everything you’ve ever done.” Initially, the lyrics were about having difficulty writing songs for our new album, but we quickly discovered that this sense of battling only to be stuck and pulled down relates to so much more in our life. It was a game-changer for us, allowing us to delve even further into what became ‘Color Decay.'”
“Color Decay” is the sequel to “The Act,” which was released in 2019. “THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA have proven time and time again that it’s possible to never stop sonically experimenting — with screamo, spoken word, atmospheric electronica, and sludge — and never lose their own crushing identity,” Revolver said when naming the album one of the “50 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2022.” One of the things that makes being a TDWP fan so rewarding is anticipating their next successful risk.”
Since their inception in 2005, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA has constantly delivered. In a Revolver poll, fans named 2009’s pioneering “With Roots Above And Branches Below” one of the “5 Greatest Metalcore Albums,” calling it “a true metalcore classic.” “Dead Throne” (2011), “8:18” (2013), “Space” EP (2015), “Transit Blues” (2016), “The Act” (2019), and “ZII” EP are among the group’s six consecutive Top 5 debuts on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums list (2021). The latter was a follow-up to one of their most popular projects, the “Zombie” EP from 2010. Following the release of the EP, the band surpassed a quarter-billion cumulative streams and views. The artists decamped to isolated hideaways in Wisconsin and Desert Hot Springs, California, in the year 2021. This time, keyboardist/programmer Jonathan Gering took over as producer, working closely with the band to create a rich musical architecture for “Color Decay.”
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA will embark on a headline tour in the summer of 2022. The journey begins in Milwaukee on August 4 and ends in Columbia, South Carolina on September 10. DYING WISH and STRAY FROM THE PATH will also be featured. THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA will perform the whole “Zombie” and “ZII” EPs, as well as a selection of greatest hits, making each event a unique experience for TDWP fans old and new.
