Yarrow by Celestial North: Review
The Scottish singer-songwriter and multitalented artist Celestial North gives the listeners a glimpse of her upcoming album with her latest release, โYarrowโ. It is a hauntingly beautiful song with a cathartic atmosphere. This contemplative and pensive composition sways with a flood of pianos and sighing melodies.
As the name suggests, the song has some otherworldly โfloralโ feel to it. The somber piano at the beginning sets up the stage for the vocal melodies and combined with the lo-fi crackling sounds it creates an ethereal atmosphere for the listeners to get lost in. The tune has an underlying hint of joyful melancholy in its melodies and as the song progresses and the piano rises in tempo, the whole atmosphere of the song is elevated ever so gracefullyโ and so is the listener. It is one of those songs that need no words to convey emotions, rather it manifests its emotions in you and takes you by the hand to walk you through the soundscape and its spectrum of emotions.
The song is a great addition to oneโs post-rock or ambient playlist. Especially fans of Hammock, Sigur Ros, Mogwai or even Bjork will thoroughly enjoy the meditative soundscape of the song.
