Zona Prohibida (Remastered Edition) by Horizonte Lied: Review
The underground Mexico-based electronic band Horizonte Lied produced their first ever release โZona Prohibida,โ an electro-alternative attempt. Released by Synthpop Your World Records and now with an instrumental version out to feature a 80s atmospheric dance, it is expected to be one of the many firsts of the, what some would call an ambitious project, โThe Final Remastersโ.
According to the band, this particular version was heavily influenced by Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nine-like industrial electronic styles and, of course classic synthpop to give a remastered vintage vibe.
Zona Prohibida deals with a very important message about the underlying issues of society, with a sonic contrast that is unsettling yet refined. This song features self-aware lyrics that are heavy with meaning. It explores how hypocrisy plays a role in attributing issues to โexternal issuesโ as well as oneโs own actions contribute to the same problems, as well as how extreme materialism, which is the dark side of capitalism, and other societal problems affecting human nature. The unpredictability and banality of the chord progression keeps things from becoming too familiar, while yet maintaining the spirit of the original version, making for a thoroughly captivating experience. The rhythm remains chaotic and bouncy, thanks to the eerily captivating synthesizer licks. It is an otherworldly experience, allowing you to escape to a disco planet or into the night on a solo adventure. One thing is for sure, youโll be captured and entertained from the very first second until the very last.
