Apathy by Lost Club: Review
Lost Club is the solo project of Nicholas Garcia, who is also a multi-instrumentalist musician influenced by The Strokes, Last Dinosaurs, Graveyard Club, and many more. โApathyโ is his latest single released on December 9, 2022. The concept of โApathyโ refers to an emotionless person who longs to experience feelings.
โApathyโ is a rollercoaster of emotions in which, despite our best efforts, we cannot contain all of our feelings and something always manages to escape. The song starts off with a drumbeat, and following the beats are an electric keyboard and bass. The shuffling drum beat and the soft and clear vocals are hypnotizing, making it a well-constructed song.
Not only do the echoes and reverberations of the guitars and vocals strike a chord with us, but the music also stirs up strong emotional responses. The song sounds like it was from a retro rock era, the smoothly transitioned instruments and the changes in the song are surprising and fun to listen to.
The song โApathyโ is a contemplation of the outcomes that have occurred as a direct result of Western cultureโs insistence on the downplaying of emotional experiences. Apathy is the result of emotional reluctance, which is caused by the belief that negative feelings, like anger, sorrow, and jealousy, should be suppressed at all costs. This song describes the apathetic worldview, which holds that feelings are meaningless and should be rejected.
