CHAÉONFIRE, a Colombian-born international recording artist, multi-genre singer-songwriter, music producer, and cultural activist, is a Colombian-born international recording artist, multi-genre singer-songwriter, music producer, and cultural activist. With her explosive words and strong, distinctive, soulful voice, she is a musical force of nature that captivates her audiences.
CHAÉ creates a new genre called Afro-TropicRock by combining contemporary sounds with her native Afro-Latin Caribbean rhythms.
CHAÉ brings the “Invisibles” of Colombia, South America, a group of Black people who have long struggled against racism, social inequity, and prejudice. CHAÉ’s journey begins with her struggle to survive in the forests of Tutunendo, Chocó, in the west of Colombia, where she was subjected to prejudice, poverty, malnutrition, and sexual abuse. CHAÉ escaped her nation due to the escalating violence generated by narco-traffickers and landed in New York City, which was her most passionate goal come true, after becoming a well-known artist in the north coast of Colombia as part of the sister pair Las Perlas Negras.
CHAÉ’s music is a burst of energy, rhythm, and joy, wrapped in powerful yet rebellious lyrics meant to educate Afro Colombians and their diaspora. She has won two Congo de Oro Awards in Barranquilla’s carnivals, made six albums, and represented Colombia in seven music-cultural festivals in New York. The official video for CHAÉ’s “COLOMBIANOS” is a riot of color and pride.
