Down but Not Out by Bones in Butter: Review
Bones in Butter has been in the scene since 2019, however, their present lineup was formed during the very beginning of the Covid lockdown. They all hail from Belgrade and joined forces to create music. “Down but Not Out” is a story about regular folk existing, struggling, and enduring in a complex society governed by an evil, greedy, and unethical leadership.
A solid rock track to its core with some elements of pop “Down but Not Out” by Bones in Butter has a profound catchiness to it. The pumping bass line gets your mood going, and the singer’s voice in combination with the guitar’s fillers is quite soothing to catch upon. The song’s transitions are quite interesting, there’s this instrumental break at one point that sounds rather spooking as it descends onto a minor scale incorporating a rather Halloween vibe to it all. The song’s rebellious and empowering persona is absolutely within their control, and they handle the melodic environment quite superbly. I like how they manage to blend bright major and gloomy minor transitions effortlessly it has a nice layer of music that is refreshing to hear.
The guitar pieces on the track have that classic rock feel that manages to hit the right high notes enough to make a grin and be filled with joy. “Down but Not Out” by Bones in Butter is an uplifting anthem with a sense of optimism that can be generated from its poetic attitude.
