It’s Not This One by Not Now Norman: Review
“It’s Not This One”- the new album from Not Now Norman came out on November 18, 2022. When I listen to them, I hear echoes of Black Sabbath, Guns N’ Roses, and other heavy metal bands. Their successful prior singles include “Shut your mouth” and “Save Me.” They follow the hard rock genre, and each track on the album contains a different hit.
Taylor-Grace, who is Northumbrian, is the band’s lead singer, has a strong voice, and sings in perfect harmony with her band’s instrumentalists. Furthermore, they deliver hard rock songs with a powerful message in each track.
Their first song on the album, “Normans Calling,” starts off with a thunder sound effect and builds up into a synth sound, then the drums play along with all the other instruments, and in between, there are sound effects like tire screeching and rooster clucking and shouting.
Their fifth song, “Who Are You” begins with a Guns N’ Roses-type tune but then changes into an Arabic-scaled intro, then slowly fades away and enters the choppy guitar riff. The sweet, powerful vocals complement the whole song, along with the smooth drumming.
The seventh song of this album, “Chasing Rainbow” commences with a flanger-based, clean electric rhythm with the vocal and then transitions into a full-on soft rock track. It’s a soft and mellow yet emotional track.
In the end, the band “Not Now Norman” is delivering the sound of hard rock very precisely, and in each track, there are a variety of distinctive sounds. In addition, the lyrics of the album are very meaningful and well-written.
