Life Through Roses by scxtty: EP Review
The power of youth and punk rock constellate in scxtty’s EP “Life Through Roses.” Each piece in this collection has a strong inclination toward melodic storytelling. In addition to that, scxtty’s sonic essence has immersive guitars, and an energetic singer owns the angsty teenage sound. Just the kinda music to vibe out with, it’s all one ever needed to get through the day especially when the burden of adulthood came knocking.
Starting off with the touching ode in “Supernova” the EP kickstarts with a heavy piece filled with raw vocals and a lovely guitar piece tagging along. The artist’s sound pays homage to the idea of jamming out with your bandmates and composing music that always spoke our minds. The rebellious aspect of scxtty’s EP comes alive with tracks like “Internet Girl” and “I Don’t Think You Love Me.” The first one has a particular tempo where the drum patterns uplift the entire element of the song while sharp guitars infiltrate its mechanics and the intensity just spikes. As for the former tune, it has a bit more melancholy attached to it, particularly its lyricism, but overall it’s still a powerful punk rock track to ignite that familiar youthful sentiment.
The last song on the EP resonates with beautiful acoustic passages and carries a sense of grace. The singer takes a break from amplified vocals and shifts gears with a heartfelt ode. From my end, it was a fitting manner to end the EP, and I urge every punk rock fanatic to give it a shot.
