My Friends by Solitary Friends: Review
Los Angeles is surely a hub for emerging artists, particularly the tale of Solitary friends and their strong rock number “My friends”.
Bringing out a genre classification of garage music, dark pop, and rock music, Solitary Friends tends to bring out the energy of each instrument and voice to a sensational extent.
The production of the overall song is quite bass-heavy, and that’s great! Any song where you can hear the bass guitar portions properly is a quality number, that too along and the guitars and drums blend well perfectly.
What’s perfect about the song’s structure is the vocal’s prowess. The raw take from singer Michelle McGregor mixes brilliantly with each instrument. Solitary friends feel like a proper band, that aren’t strangers, their bond can be felt as true friends who enjoy doing music together. Everyone’s playing their part and it’s a joy to listen to.
The main chorus is heavenly and catchy at the same time, it just pushes your ears to hear each word with precision. That’s all because the song makes you want to chant along with the lyrics, well I would if I saw the band live!
Now, let’s talk about my favorite part, the outro! Man, that guitar tone, the melody, the phrasing, and just the overall feel towards each bend and each note is exceptional. It makes you wish the song didn’t end and put it on repeat each time so that you can hear that guitar solo at the end once again.
