Outliers by Sylvan Weekends: EP Review
Sylvan Weekends are an electro-folk act that makes music to soothe and calm your soul. With storyteller vocals and energetic rhythm sections, their melodies are a form of healing for any audiophile. Just give their EP “Outliers” a go, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s a charming collection of songs that’ll hypnotize you and leave you speechless when it ends.
The EP begins with the electronic wave “Every Day.” It’s a cool and clean number encompassing rhythmic singing, and a catchy synth driving it. Aside from that, the basslines and beats are in full swing and it’s a joy to hear that cadence. Next up is the tranquility of “Symmetry.” The track is a breath of fresh air for the folk genre and involves the serenity of acoustic guitars and a peaceful narrative. The harmonies are lovely to hear, and their resonance is shaped by the instrumentals joining in. Ever wonder what the sound of freedom is? Well as it turns out, it’s to the tone of “Young and Freewheeling.” Everything about this piece screams liberty and the joy of enjoying one’s youth. That essence is captured through an endearing vocal section and lively rhythm sections.
The ending numbers “Outliers” and “185” are more emotional than the rest. With the first one playing close to your chest and tugging on your heartstrings with a soft melody. While the second follows a similar hymn, albeit ending with a sensational crescendo. Thus, please don’t miss out on the music of Sylvan Weekends!
