The song “Sleepy Policeman” by 9 o’clock Nasty contains an abundance of funk and punk that is impossible to ignore. The vocal approach and instrumentation alone elevate the song and give it a distinctive character.
Occasionally, a song’s melodic aroma is so intense that it flawlessly portrays an image. In this instance, the song’s title goes nicely with each bassline and the enigmatic guitar tone. It sounds like a subtle blend of distortion and overdrive, where the two combine to create a ghostly layer upon repeated listening. In the end, it has an audible reflection describing a crime breaking out and the cops pursuing the suspected perpetrator. If I had to pick a given part of the track as a favorite it would be the singer’s narrative style singing, which is a bit of a mix with punk music, and the wobbly bass line that added a nice polish to the track.
“Sleepy Policeman” by 9 o’clock Nasty has a rebellious nature to its song and lyrical structure. The tempo of the tune simply energizes you with the experimental vocal style. As the guitar solo enters the tune’s premise it adds a nice layer of blues before resuming the usual punk vibes. 9 o’clock Nasty’s musical style is quite eccentric, as evident from their vocal accompaniment. So, if you’re in the mood to hear a different take on punk music, with some interesting instrumental work, then please do give the track a listen!
