Kwolek, known for his lyrically rich and 80s/90s alternative music, has also exposed himself as a man of culture in his latest single, โSome Evenings.โ This man is going to get the summer sun tan out of you by trapping you in his vibrant evenings.
The story goes like this: the protagonist exchanges their dead-end job for BDSM clubs and their distorted figures of intimacy. The lyrics, โDonโt participate but I like to observe,โ tell you that they are just trying to get their minds off stress and get out of their shell and experience something more. But only that it gets in your head.
Musically, the song is a slow burn. The laid-back but catchy groove with hints of gothic vibes and Kwolekโs hazy, high vocals create a hypnotic atmosphere. The unease turns heady as he soars, with his voice getting drowned with a sort of unconscious or altered state of euphoric appeal. His voice gets ecstatic as he repeats the distorted frenzy of intimacy. It is only the drums and the guitars that start storming to elevate this sound and the height of satisfaction.
Kwolek explores the voyeuristic nature of desire, the thrill of watching and being watched all out of a desperate desire to feel good. Listen to the psychological exploration of desire in โSome Eveningsโ to see how far you can go too.
