Cease and Desist by JellyCopter: Album Review
Prolific indie rocker JellyCopter shows us that the vintage taste of rock and roll is still in our veins today. Their album βCease and Desistβ incorporates phased guitar tones infused with powerful drumming and groovy vocals. It all pertains to the idea that the indie movement is still going strong, and the sensation of garage rock with an old-school twist is still within our reach to seek good music.
The album opens up with βCease and Desistβ a powerful 70s-style surf-rock-inspired track that has the appeal of budding harmonies and colorful rhythm sections. The percussion pieces just keep going and thereβs no end to the force of it all. In fact, almost all the songs carry that same weight here. As we move on to tracks such as βCowboy Songβ, the essence of country rock and indie blend together to represent a moving melody. The constant jangly rhythm section with some light synths makes the song stand out. If you were ever into horseriding or like the idea of exploring most of America, then this track can provide the perfect soundtrack serving as a traveling companion.
The last track βWonβt Make the Same Mistake Twiceβ is a unique track that sets itself apart from the energetic numbers of the album. Creating the elements of beauty and ambiance through the clarity of reverbed acoustic guitars, the track represents a meaningful and reflective tune. It feels like a fitting ending. This is because as the track comes to a close, the last energetic run of the instrumentation sounds like closing a book with a satisfying result.
