Teika & The Raw Beat’s latest ballad, “Falling In Love,” is the third single from their upcoming debut album, Bones’n’Stones, set for release on March 8, 2024. Fronted by Berlin-based singer-songwriter and pianist Mateja Kert, the band delivers an enchanting and unforgettable blend of British romance, alternative rock, and punk.
The song unfolds with delicate and relaxing piano melodies, creating a captivating atmosphere. Kert’s soft, high, and sweet vocals enter gracefully, accompanied by the swelling string arrangements that add depth to the composition. As the music progresses, the song beckons the listener to embrace love despite the inner demons that may exist, urging a collective unity in love and harmony.
What stands out in “Falling In Love” is Kert’s vocal prowess. She showcases the fragility of her voice in the initial verses, creating an intimate and tender ambiance. However, as the song develops, she unleashes the full extent of her vocal capabilities. The anthemically soaring crescendo towards the end seamlessly transitions from a gossamer tenderness to a thick and deep timbre.
“Falling In Love” suggests that love can bridge the spiritual and material realms, emphasizing its revolutionary potential. Kert’s vocals become a conduit for this powerful message. They have a raw authenticity that echoes the influences of artists like PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, Kate Bush, David Bowie, Nick Cave, and Nine Inch Nails.
The instrumental accompaniment, driven by the bass (Georg Kostron) and drums (Gidon Carmel), is enriched by the contributions of Kim-Esther Rolloff on viola and Guilherme Rodrigues on cello.
“Falling In Love” and Kert’s vocals are unlikely anything I have heard before. It definitely gets me excited for Bones’n’Stones. Mark your calendars for March 8 for the big release!
